Yokohama Sport Association

Company/Organization Overview

Our association is looking beyond the traditional boundaries of sports to explore new business developments and has set initiatives to promote decarbonization in line with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

To advance sustainability-conscious initiatives, it is essential to build partnerships with various stakeholders.

We are committed to creating an environment where people can “participate,” “watch,” and “support” sports, ensuring that sports and health promotion become an integral part of daily life. Regardless of age, gender, or disabilities, we strive to create a bright and prosperous society where everyone can shine.

Sustainability Initiatives

As part of our Blue Carbon initiative, which promotes decarbonization through the absorption and sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) by marine organisms such as seaweed, we organized a hands-on nature learning event in collaboration with the Yokohama City Fisheries Cooperative and other partners. Led by Sachiumi Heroes, the event featured the planting of kelp, which absorbs approximately five times more CO2 than cedar trees. This initiative aimed to raise awareness and interest in coastal erosion issues and climate change countermeasures.

Additionally, as an example of our facility initiatives, we are implementing projects at Shin-Yokohama Park, including rainwater reuse, flood control functions, and biodiversity-related programs.
