Locals have worked assiduously to preserve this greenery while continuing the development of the city for visitors to enjoy. It is a charming destination for wandering around and appreciating the benefits of urban nature. “Respect” is the key word in Yokohama—not only for the green and blue spaces but also for people. Yokohama City SDGs
Certification System—“Y-SDGs“
Yokohama City, in collaboration with the Yokohama SDGs Design Center, administers the Yokohama City SDGs Certification System (“Y-SDGs”), which recognizes companies that actively contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Businesses obtain “Y-SDGs” certification as an important step in transitioning to sustainable management and operations. At the same time, they can leverage the certification to attract new customers and to support their investing and financing decisions, including ESG investing.
In the certification process, companies are evaluated on thirty criteria across four categories: Environmental, Social, Governance, and Local. Based on their achievements in these categories, companies are certified at one of three levels: Supreme, Superior, or Standard.
By recognizing companies that proactively embrace the SDGs with its “Y-SDGs” certification, Yokohama reaffirms its commitment to becoming an SDGs FutureCity.
