Sharing pictures of Yukata in a traditional Japanese garden contributes to spread of traditional culture

The yukata dates back to the Heian period and it represents an important part of Japanese cultural heritage. Moreover, Sankeien itself is a meaningful place which conveys the essence of Japanese culture.

Sankeien garden

Seasonal flowers collected from Kyoto and Kamakura like plum, cherry blossom and lotus as well as greenery and colored leaves enhance the splendor of three-storied pagoda and teahouse (A property of important significance both in Yokohama and nationally). The harmony of ancient architecture and nature is a must see.

Being dressed by professional kimono-dresser

We will travel to a conference venue where you will be dressed by a dispatched professional kimono-dresser.

A wide variety of Yukata will be prepared and can be selected at one’s choosing. The Yukata will be presented to the participant to take away as a souvenir.

Traditional Yukata and Kimono are sustainable forms of fashion

Yukata and Kimono are made by straight cutting, so they have fewer scraps than other garments. Even scraps are made into bags and Japanese sandals. Kimono can be worn across generations and worn-out kimono can be upcycled into things like clothing and accessories
